About Inksplat

You've put the work into your brand.

Now let me put the work into your website.

Hi, I’m Eilís, the owner and lead web designer at Inksplat, based in Blanchardstown, Dublin. After graduating in 2011, I spent several years as a freelance web developer before setting up Inksplat in 2018. Since 2022, I have been specialising in web design & development for whiskey and alcohol related businesses and brands.

2011 BSc(Hons) in Computing.
2018 Inksplat Established.
2022 Specialising in whiskey & alcohol related web design.

SoWhy Whiskey

I actually fell into whiskey purely by accident. My first whiskey related client wanted to work with someone local and hired me because we lived nearby. That project led to two more within the industry, and things kept snowballing from there.

Many of my clients have been with me for years, and I genuinely care about their businesses and want to see them succeed and I believe that’s reflected in the work I do. It's ironic that, as a teetotaller, I now work primarily in the whiskey industry. I've even amassed a small collection of whiskey, although I don't collect it for the whiskey itself. It's the bottles, labels and branding that interest me most.

Proving that if something looks good, it makes you want to pick it up.

My Mission

I’ve worked with many businesses across different areas of the whiskey industry, from tastings and festivals to everything in between. Through this experience I’ve learned that while every business has its own brand and story to tell, the underlying fundamentals are often the same.

Working across the industry has given me a much better understanding of how these businesses operate, what they need from their websites and how their customers experience them. It has also allowed me to develop workflows that have been refined through experience and can be applied as standard to each project.

I bring that industry knowledge and those refined workflows into every project I work on.

My Belief

I believe that if you have something worth experiencing, then your website should be part of that experience. Whiskey, spirits and alcohol brands tend to put a lot of effort into getting their physical branding just right. From the bottle to the label and packaging right down to the stopper.

Too often, that same level of care, precision and detail doesn’t make it into the website. After investing so much in getting the brand right, the website becomes an afterthought, somewhere to cut corners rather than another part of the brand worth getting right.

I believe your website should carry the same weight as the bottle in someone’s hand and your website should be proudly displayed on the web just as your bottles are on a shelf.

My Approach

I build bespoke websites, expertly crafted to match your brand and your story right down to the pixel. I don’t use off the shelf templates or page builders because your brand deserves better. I work using ACF fields in WordPress which allows me to build custom, scalable, and highly optimized websites, while still giving each client the ability to manage their own content without having to worry about accidentally offsetting the design.

I take a different approach to design and development in that I do them concurrently, rather than treating them as two separate stages. This allows me to forgo traditional mockups and Figma designs in favour of building a real homepage demo. I do this not because these mockup’s can’t look great but because static designs can only show you what a website will look like at a particular point and assumes that everything will translate perfectly when you go from design to development.

Instead, I build the homepage as though it were going into production, from mobile through to desktop, with everything in place. That way you can see it, scroll through it and interact with it just as your customers will. That means when it comes to revisions, you're looking at the actual website rather than refining a static picture of one and hoping the finished build matches it.

DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT Design & Develop the functionality and look and feel of the website side by side. Discovery Learn from the client about their business, their brand, their story and the goals of the website. CONTENT CREATION Add the final imagery, copy and other content to thecompleted website. SITE STRUCTURE Map out the pages and functionality needed for the website and how everything connects. LAUNCH The website goes live. TESTING & REVISIONING Test the website and make any changes or refinements identified during the revision process.
